God Rewards Obedience

Genesis 41:34-36
New International Version

34 Let Pharaoh appoint commissioners over the land to take a fifth of the harvest of Egypt during the seven years of abundance. 35 They should collect all the food of these good years that are coming and store up the grain under the authority of Pharaoh, to be kept in the cities for food.36 This food should be held in reserve for the country, to be used during the seven years of famine that will come upon Egypt, so that the country may not be ruined by the famine.”

For Reflection

Joseph satisfied the Pharaoh's request for dream interpretations Being convinced of the approaching famine, the Pharaoh commissioned people to save one-fifth of the harvests for seven years and set the supply aside for use for the seven years of famine to come. This decree did not force the people. Instead, he paid the going rate for the stores. Because the Pharaoh had endorsed this measure, it is probable that the people also kept stores aside.

Pray

Pray so that like those that saved for the famine, you may shore up your faith for times that challenge it the most.
