Live in the light of God (Isaiah 2:5)

Isaiah 43:18-21The Voice

18 Eternal One: Don't revel only in the past,
        or spend all your time recounting the victories of days gone by.
19     Watch closely: I am preparing something new; it's happening now, even as I speak,
        and you're about to see it. I am preparing a way through the desert;
    Waters will flow where there had been none.
20     Wild animals in the fields will honor Me;
        the wild dogs and surly birds will join in.
    There will be water enough for My chosen people,
        trickling springs, and clear streams running through the desert.
21     My people, the ones whom I chose and created for My own,
        will sing My praise.

For Reflection

Many people yearn for "the good old days." But those days are long gone and probably not as desirable as we remember them. The good old days when women knew their place. The good old days when men were dominant. The good old days when hellfire and brimstone scared us all into false obedience. The good old days when we all adhered to a common standard. The good old days when following the religious rules was a measure of one's faith. The Good old days when whites were privileged, but not the Irish, the Jew, the Italian, the native American, the Asian, or the black folks.

Today we live in a much more diverse community. God is still preparing a new way of societal practice. Living in today's world requires less reliance on religious rules and a greater appreciation for the strength of our diversity.

We are called to be less judgmental and more loving, kind, and merciful to all people. God had always preserved the freedom of his people to choose to worship God. Even when God was angry, God invited people to choose divine obedience.

As Christians, our job is to spread the gospel message and leave the judgment to God. Pray and set your fears aside because God has paved the way for victory, and the Kingdom of God will reign in God's time.

Pray

Pray and develop a trusting relationship with God. Pray and become a living witness to the power of God's love.
