Live Life in Joyful Expectation

Honoring God

Jesus Teaches about True Worship

Live in the light of God (Isaiah 2:5)

The Prayer of Jesus

Romans 8:12-17 The Message
12-14 So don’t you see that we don’t owe this old do-it-yourself life one red cent. There’s nothing in it for us, nothing at all. The best thing to do is give it a decent burial and get on with your new life. God’s Spirit beckons. There are things to do and places to go!
15-17 This resurrection life you received from God is not a timid, grave tending life. It’s adventurously expectant, greeting God with a childlike “What’s next, Papa?” God’s Spirit touches our spirits and confirms who we really are. We know who he is, and we know who we are: Father and children. And we know we are going to get what’s coming to us—an unbelievable inheritance! We go through exactly what Christ goes through. If we go through the hard times with him, then we’re certainly going to go through the good times with him!

For Reflection

Even though one has given one's life over to God and accepted the counsel of the Holy Spirit that dwells within, one still has to face the same worldly challenges. The difference is that one has an acceptable alternative to conventional wisdom with which one has been engrossed since birth. No longer does one have to be worried about the future. One can grow in confidence, strength, courage, and patience. Giving up the need to solve each snag, each conundrum, bearing the burden of controlling one's life and the circumstances of living, produces a peace that defies rationality. Joy returns. One experiences miracles!

So resist! Resist the compulsion to take on the world single-handedly. Trust in the promise of the Lord that all things will work for good. Don't just believe that God will help you. Know it. React with patience. Instead of complaining, react with thankfulness. Live by faith, not feelings. Resist the reflexive responses from your past and embrace the nudges from the divine depths of your soul.

Pray

Spend time in prayer and silence so that you can know Christ. Pray so that you can resist the carnal understandings of the world and embrace the wisdom of the Lord.
