Justice and the Prophets
God Requires Justice
Live in the light of God (Isaiah 2:5)
Leading Justly
Malachi 2:17 New International Version
Breaking Covenant Through Injustice
17 You have wearied the Lord with your words.
“How have we wearied him?” you ask.
By saying, “All who do evil are good in the eyes of the Lord, and he is pleased with them” or “Where is the God of justice?”
For Reflection
When we justify the common cultural unjust norms, we weary the Lord. We have lost our sense of living in the household of God and are complacent in our current state of affairs when we have to ask the question, "How have we wearied Him?" When we see the wicked prosper, when we feel used by the unjust systems that plague us, and when we feel lost in a hopeless spiral, we ask, "Where is God?" Our doubt is a sign of our disobedience.
Pray
Contemplate the times when you felt without God. Think about how you got through those times. God was with you, whether you were aware of it or not. And when you were suffering the most and as a last resort, cried out a lamentation and prayed prayers of intercession that you began to see God working in your life. Pray prayers of praise and thanksgiving for God, who never abandoned you.
