Justice and the Prophets
God Requires Justice
Live in the light of God (Isaiah 2:5)
Corrupt Leaders
Micah 3:5-8 New International Version
5 This is what the Lord says:
“As for the prophets who lead my people astray, they proclaim ‘peace’ if they have something to eat, but prepare to wage war against anyone who refuses to feed them. 6 Therefore night will come over you, without visions, and darkness, without divination. The sun will set for the prophets, and the day will go dark for them. 7 The seers will be ashamed and the diviners disgraced. They will all cover their faces because there is no answer from God.” 8 But as for me, I am filled with power, with the Spirit of the Lord, and with justice and might, to declare to Jacob his transgression, to Israel his sin.
For Reflection
It is not to difficult to find a "prophet" that will promise you health, riches, or peace. Just turn on your TV. All you have to do is send in your offering and be seduced by the grandeur of their promises. After a while, the followers of these false prophets will come to realize that whatever they expected from corrupt leaders will never be fulfilled. The charlatans can bring no answer from God.
The true prophet of God acts not on his own authority but with the authority and power of God. They act honestly and boldly. They do not shade their judgment in easy fixes. Those who come to hear the word of God and are moved by it accept their faults, repent, and become transformed by the experience.
Pray
Pray and think about your progress toward growing into Grace. Pray and be willing to do what it takes to continue your right relationship with God.
