New Revised Standard Version

The New Commandment

31 When he had gone out, Jesus said, “Now the Son of Man has been glorified, and God has been glorified in him. 32 If God has been glorified in him,[a] God will also glorify him in himself and will glorify him at once. 33 Little children, I am with you only a little longer. You will look for me; and as I said to the Jews so now I say to you, ‘Where I am going, you cannot come.’ 34 I give you a new commandment that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples if you have love for one another.”

For Reflection

We often ask, "What is the will of God for my life?" I would answer that the will of God is the same for everyone. God's will is that we be good shepherds of The Creation, all of it, mineral, vegetable, animal, and human, animate and inanimate. God's will is that we emulate God as shown in Jesus. God's will is that we live joyful lives. God's will is that we honor God and the Creation by loving ourselves and each other. God's will is that we displace fear with love. God lives in us and it is God's will that we choose to live in God.

Pray

Pray about all things. Pray and become engrossed in the living word of the Scriptures. Pray and recognize the beauty, joy, and peace in selflessness.
