Love Despite Denial

Love for One Another

Great Love Among Believers
Live in the light of God (Isaiah 2:5)

Loving by Serving

John 13:36-38
New International Version

36 Simon Peter asked him, “Lord, where are you going?”

Jesus replied, “Where I am going, you cannot follow now, but you will follow later.”

37 Peter asked, “Lord, why can’t I follow you now? I will lay down my life for you.”

38 Then Jesus answered, “Will you really lay down your life for me? Very truly, I tell you, before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times!

For Reflection

Jesus reveals the human weakness for fear. Peter, does not recognize his human potential for failure to follow his own convictions. When confronted by Christ's prediction, Peter pleads denial. But Jesus confirms his loving commitment to Peter in his promise to abide with him despite Peter's human frailties.

Pray

Pray and be convinced that God in Christ will never abandon you. Pray so that you may realize that if your heart remains pure even when your flesh is weak, God will always love and accept you.
