Rest in the Lord

Love for One Another

Great Love Among Believers
Live in the light of God (Isaiah 2:5)

Loving by Serving

Psalm 4:8
New International Version

8 In peace I will lie down and sleep,
    for you alone, Lord,
    make me dwell in safety.

For Reflection

Such a simple phrase.  But, isn't that what we all wish for, hope for, and aspire to?  In this world of hurt and despair, with deep social, spiritual, and physical suffering, aren't we all ready to rest?  There is no war in many places, but there is warring. For many, there is an unidentified restlessness and no path to find rest. Engrossed in the chaotic background in which we live, do we find no sanctuary?

Do we pray to God for peace with expectations of a miraculous resuscitation?   If so, our prayers are but empty babble if our dread reveals our distrust of God's promise that all will result in good ends. Our empty words belie our lack of conviction if we take no action to restore hope in troubling times. Just as sure as fear-filled, Peter denied Christ, we, too, pushed by fear, deny that God will lift this yoke of hopelessness from us.

Pray

Pray so that the burden of these times will not overwhelm you.  Pray and find rest in the only truth that makes a difference.  Pray so that you realize the love that sustained you and makes your strength in the promise of God a testimony to God's healing power.
