Prophets Faithfull to God's CovenantProphets of Restoration Live in the light of God (Isaiah 2:5) The Suffering Servant Brings SalvationIsaiah 52:13-53:3 New International VersionThe Suffering and Glory of the Servant13 See, my servant will act wisely[a]; he will be raised and lifted up and highly exalted. 14 Just as there were many who were appalled at him[b]— his appearance was so disfigured beyond that of any human being and his form marred beyond human likeness— 15 so he will sprinkle many nations,[c] and kings will shut their mouths because of him. For what they were not told, they will see, and what they have not heard, they will understand. 53 Who has believed our message and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed? 2 He grew up before him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of dry ground. He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him. 3 He was despised and rejected by mankind, a man of suffering, and familiar with pain. Like one from whom people hide their faces, he was despised, and we held him in low esteem. For ReflectionJesus, the Christ, must perfect his human self through suffering, victory, and apparent failure. This sacrifice is the ultimate proof that peace and rest can never be realized through violent acts and that giving one's life in servitude to God is not an irrational and ineffective mode of living. The crucifixion and resurrection of Christ is a story that could not end in any other way. Treachery had lost its power. Christ lives. Christ is active in our lives. After over 2000 years, the Christ event influences human spiritualism, compassion, ethics, justice, and peace. PrayPray for comfort while suffering the indignities of a God-centered life. Pray for those whose lives are dedicated to the Gospel truths.
