Lamentations: A Plea for Restoration

Psalm 102:18-23
New Revised Standard Version

18 Let this be recorded for a generation to come,
    so that a people yet unborn may praise the Lord:
19 that he looked down from his holy height,
    from heaven, the Lord looked at the earth,
20 to hear the groans of the prisoners,
    to set free those who were doomed to die;
21 so that the name of the Lord may be declared in Zion,
    and his praise in Jerusalem,
22 when peoples gather together,
    and kingdoms, to worship the Lord.

23 He has broken my strength in midcourse;
    he has shortened my days.

For Reflection

We all suffer the afflictions of our humanity through the course of our lives. At times, we all have felt the loneliness of our suffering But, we have also experienced the joys of God's gift of life.

All of us have, at one time or another have weakened under the pressures of living and wondered if God really cared about us. The psalmist laments his plight but recognized the sovereignty of the Lord. He accepts his humanity and cries out to God, pleading for mercy.

Pray

Pray and accept the sovereignty of God. Pray and trust in the Lord to make all things work for good.
