Corporeal vs. Spiritual Life

Confident Hope

Faith Gives Us Hope
Live in the light of God (Isaiah 2:5)

Meaning of Faith

1 Timothy 6:6-10
The Message

6-8 A devout life does bring wealth, but it’s the rich simplicity of being yourself before God. Since we entered the world penniless and will leave it penniless, if we have bread on the table and shoes on our feet, that’s enough.

9-10 But if it’s only money these leaders are after, they’ll self-destruct in no time. Lust for money brings trouble and nothing but trouble. Going down that path, some lose their footing in the faith completely and live to regret it bitterly ever after.

For Reflection

Faithful devotion to The Way does not guarantee financial prosperity.  There is nothing wrong with becoming prosperous, of course, but money is not the only measure of prosperity. The wealth of which Paul speaks is spiritual. Paul is not speaking of possessions.  Instead, Paul is talking about are attributes of one's character, which arise from obedience to and trust in God. Following the way of Jesus Christ results in a life that produces peace, contentment, humility, and a desire to serve each other compassionately and justly.

Pray

Pray and have the courage to follow Christ.  Pray and enrich the simplicity of your life through devotion to God. Pray and trust in the Lord.
