The Faith of Abraham

Romans 4:19-25
The Message

19-25 Abraham didn’t focus on his own impotence and say, “It’s hopeless. This hundred-year-old body could never father a child.” Nor did he survey Sarah’s decades of infertility and give up. He didn’t tiptoe around God’s promise asking cautiously skeptical questions. He plunged into the promise and came up strong, ready for God, sure that God would make good on what he had said. That’s why it is said, “Abraham was declared fit before God by trusting God to set him right.” But it’s not just Abraham; it’s also us! The same thing gets said about us when we embrace and believe the One who brought Jesus to life when the conditions were equally hopeless. The sacrificed Jesus made us fit for God, set us right with God.

For Reflection

You say, "8I have not authority, no power, skills or knowledge to serve." In God, we are not powerless, unskilled, or nieve.  We are backed by divine authority, our sovereign God the creator of all things. We are not impotent or hopelessly bound by corporal circumstances. We who live in God and God in us are unmoved by appeals to incapacity. We are complete with all the resources we need to fulfill God's mission of transforming the universe by loving ourselves, appreciating the gifts God has given to each of us, and using them to the glory of God. each according to their gifts.

Pray

Pray so that you can identify and employ the gifts of God which will enable your righteousness. Pray and find peace in synchronizing your life with God's intentions for you.
