Live in the light of God (Isaiah 2:5)

1 John 1:5-10 New International Version

Light and Darkness, Sin and Forgiveness

5 This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him, there is no darkness at all. 6 If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth.7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all[a] sin.

8 If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar, and his word is not in us.

For Reflection

Dear readers,
It is the stroke of midnight. I just awoke to lift my face out of a plate of mashed potatoes and gravy. [Please forgive a reference to an old Blondie and Dagwood forties era film.] I am just now researching and writing this piece for tomor... today. It's only Wednesday, and it's been a rough week.

God stuck these words from Ellicott under my nose. Ellicott's words struck me. They were so simply stated, elegantly containing the essence of what I tend to believe is Christian theology. Thank you God.

Here is part one.
Please re-read the scripture passage and then meditate upon each of the inferences and obediences in your time of prayer. Let your mind wander into the expanse of these words.

P.S. Tune in tomorrow, Thursday for Part 2

Pray and let the Holy Spirit guide your life.
