All You Need is Love

John 13:31-35 The Voice

31 Upon Judas's departure, Jesus spoke:

Jesus: Now, the Son of Man will be glorified as God is glorified in Him. 32 If God's glory is in Him, His glory is also in God. The moment of this astounding glory is imminent. 33 My children, My time here is brief. You will be searching for Me, and as I told the Jews, "You cannot go where I am going." 34 So I give you a new command: Love each other deeply and fully. Remember the ways that I have loved you, and demonstrate your love for others in those same ways. 35 Everyone will know you as My followers if you demonstrate your love to others.

10 Jesus knew what the disciples were saying among themselves, so He took them to task.

Jesus: Why don't you leave this woman alone? She has done a good thing. 11 It is good that you are concerned about the poor, but the poor will always be with you—I will not be. 12 In pouring this ointment on My body, she has prepared Me for My burial. 13 I tell you this: the good news of the kingdom of God will be spread all over the world, and wherever the good news travels, people will tell the story of this woman and her good discipleship. And people will remember her.

14 At that, one of the twelve, Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests.

Judas Iscariot: 15 What will you give me to turn Him over to you?

They offered him 30 pieces of silver. 16 And from that moment, he began to watch for a chance to betray Jesus.

For Reflection

"All You Need Is Love!" A simplistic expression of universal truth. But that is the depth of love. Love is the fundamental emotion that makes us human. Remember the emphasis Jesus placed upon it. The greatest commandment (Matthew 22:37): "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind…the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.

The Spiritual realm predates the physical one. Yet we often honor the physical realm over the spiritual one. Isn't it time that we remember who we humans are? God's children who, through love, were intended to live in peace and harmony. To quote another lyric, isn't it time to "Give peace a chance?"

Pray

Pray, and let the Holy Spirit guide your life. Pray, and live a life full of love. Pray and let love displace hate, greed, and self-worship. Pray and remember the road to peace is paved with bricks of love.
