The Great Hope of the Saints A New Home
Live in the light of God (Isaiah 2:5) Romans 8:31-39 The Voice31 So what should we say about all of this? If God is on our side, then tell me: whom should we fear? 32 If He did not spare His own Son, but handed Him over on our account, then don't you think that He will graciously give us all things with Him? 33 Can anyone be so bold as to level a charge against God's chosen? Especially since God's "not guilty" verdict is already declared. 34 Who has the authority to condemn? Jesus the Anointed who died, but more importantly, conquered death when He was raised to sit at the right hand of God where He pleads on our behalf. 35 So who can separate us? What can come between us and the love of God's Anointed? Can troubles, hardships, persecution, hunger, poverty, danger, or even death? The answer is, absolutely nothing. 36 As the psalm says, On Your behalf, our lives are endangered constantly; we are like sheep awaiting slaughter.[a]37 But no matter what comes, we will always taste victory through Him who loved us. 38 For I have every confidence that nothing—not death, life, heavenly messengers, dark spirits, the present, the future, spiritual powers, 39 height, depth, nor any created thing—can come between us and the love of God revealed in the Anointed, Jesus our Lord. For Reflection
At some time or another suffering has become unbearable. When hope is all but lost and despair shadows our judgment, Paul reminds us that God will never abandon us. Paul lists various difficulties, most of which he has experienced himself, and then he adds a Psalm text to state the problem even more graphically, "For your sake, we are being killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep to be slaughtered."
Dr. Israel Kamudzandu, an Associate Professor of New Testament Studies and Lindsey P. Pherigo Chair at Saint Paul School of Theology, Kansas City, Missouri, writes," Even when we fall short of acknowledging and comprehending God's power, the Holy Spirit continues to intercede for all believers. Sometimes we are incapable of defining the plan God has for salvation. This is a mysterious role. The function and work of the Holy Spirit remain opaque to many people, including clergy. It is probably true that in moments of our human pain and prayers, the Holy Spirit sighs within us, through us, and for us, enabling us to have peace of mind, soul, and heart. It is this calmness of heart, mind, and soul that needs to be taught to all believers who find themselves in doubting moments, especially when walking through the valley of desperation and challenges.." PrayPray: meditate on the fact that nothing, not death, or any created thing, can come between you and the love that God revealed in Jesus.
