From Darkness to Light God's Promises God Promises to be Present Live in the light of God (Isaiah 2:5) Joel 1:14-20 New International Version 14 Declare a holy fast; call a sacred assembly. Summon the elders and all who live in the land to the house of the Lord your God, and cry out to the Lord. 15 Alas for that day! For the day of the Lord is near; it will come like destruction from the Almighty.[a] 16 Has not the food been cut off before our very eyes— joy and gladness from the house of our God? 17 The seeds are shriveled beneath the clods.[b] The storehouses are in ruins, the granaries have been broken down, for the grain has dried up. 18 How the cattle moan! The herds mill about because they have no pasture; even the flocks of sheep are suffering. 19 To you, Lord, I call, for fire has devoured the pastures in the wilderness and flames have burned up all the trees of the field. 20 Even the wild animals pant for you; the streams of water have dried up and fire has devoured the pastures in the wilderness For Reflection
We often wonder whether we know Grace without our sins' darkness. In the beginning, God separated the light from the darkness for half the day, and nights only diminished the light. We still have to struggle with our demons. Nevertheless, God has promised to take us through those dark times into the kingdom of God, where we straddle the chasm between the Earth and the heavens, between the secular world and the Kingdom of God; in this role, each day, to follow the will of God as shown in the life of Christ. Sometimes we know the agony of defeat and the joy of victory at other times. But, in each case, we know that God is at our side, with the Holy Spirit guiding and leading, encouraging us, and giving us hope for the future.
Pray Pray and meditate on the Scriptures so that you are ready when that time comes and you hear the call of God to answer his will despite what the secular world is driving you toward.
