Perseverance in Prayer

Matthew 7:7-11 New International Version

Ask, Seek, Knock

7 “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.
9 “Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone?10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? 11 If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!

For Reflection

A legitimate question to ask God is not, as Janis Joplin might sing, "Lord, won't you by me a Mercedes Benz?"
God is mysterious. The question is, How do we enter the work of reforming ourselves and others? God is hidden to all who do not believe in God. But, for believers, God invites them into God's house to see for themselves and to understand the mysteries of God's Kingdom.  We are asked to seek and find through prayer and study.  To those who ask, gifts of knowledge will be given.

Pray

Pray and engross yourself in the mystery that is God. Seek, ask, and knock on the Kingdom's door, and you will find the wisdom and courage to follow Jesus.
