Christmas Overture
The Advent of the Messiah Live in the light of God (Isaiah 2:5) 2 Samuel 3:1-5 New King James VersionJoab Kills Abner3 Now, there was a long war between the house of Saul and the house of David. But David grew stronger and stronger, and the house of Saul grew weaker and weaker. Sons of David2 Sons were born to David in Hebron: His firstborn was Amnon by Ahinoam the Jezreelitess; 3 his second, [a]Chileab, by Abigail the widow of Nabal the Carmelite; the third, Absalom the son of Maacah, the daughter of Talmai, king of Geshur; 4 the fourth, Adonijah the son of Haggith; the fifth, Shephatiah the son of Abital; 5 and the sixth, Ithream, by David’s wife, Eglah. These were born to David in Hebron.
2 Samuel 5:1-5 New King James Version David Reigns over All Israel5 Then all the tribes of Israel came to David at Hebron and spoke, saying, “Indeed we are your bone and your flesh. 2 Also, in time past, when Saul was king over us, you were the one who led Israel out and brought them in; and the Lord said to you, ‘You shall shepherd My people Israel, and be ruler over Israel.’” 3 Therefore, all the elders of Israel came to the king at Hebron, and King David made a covenant with them at Hebron before the Lord. And they anointed David king over Israel. 4 David was thirty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years. 5 In Hebron, he reigned over Judah seven years and six months, and in Jerusalem, he reigned thirty-three years over all Israel and Judah. For Reflection
Solomon, once the wisest king on all the Earth, became corrupted. David’s family, anointed by God, prospered. Solomon, who once championed justice, was replaced with the Household of David. And thus began the Davidic Dynasty. PrayPraise God for the gift of Jesus. Pray that you will champion justice in all forms. Pray that you will respect others to choose justice as God respect our freedom to choose The Way.
